The Spellman Files: A Novel
by Lisa Lutz
Hardcover
Read overview here.

I just finished reading this book. What a fun book to read. I don’t have this huge slate of time I can dedicate to reading, so I read when I’m waiting in line to pick up my kids from school. I read while waiting for the spaghetti to cook al dente. I read just about anytime I can because if I wait for a perfect time, I might as well quit reading now. That is why I’m always thrilled to find a book that is so good, I served everyone frozen dinner for two days in a row.

This book opened with a car chase. It’s all very exciting. It reminds me so much of reading Hostage by Robert Craise. Remember that movie with Bruce Willis? Well, that was a book first, and I love it! Spellman Files is funny and full of tension and reading this book is like riding a roller coaster while watching a movie. It reads like a movie, but in an excellent book package.

I like the characters in the books. Izzy is unique and fun. She’s also engaging, even though she misbehaves a lot. By the time I finished reading it, I can just imagine having Rae for a sister, or David for a brother. What a hoot. That poor dentist never got a chance. What dentist, you ask? Well, you’ll have to read the book to find out. I bet you wouldn’t be disappointed. The humor is great. I find myself laughing aloud while waiting for my turn at parents and teachers conference last night.

Have you read this book? What did you think of it?

I haven’t read this book, but it sounds great! I also find that I sometimes have to squeeze in readable moments whenever I can. I have often cooked supper while reading. It’s a wonder I haven’t burned myself! :-)

That just reminds me of my overcooked spaghetti a week ago. Actually, forget overcooked, it was a soup by the time I noticed it. Hazards of reading.

I loved this book, I thought it was quirky and fun. The sequel is good as well!

Yes it has, and I have the book from my library. It’s large print. I feel so old, but it’s more comfy to read large print.
